Put a plan in place to ensure your general practice can react quickly and confidently when disaster strikes.
Practice managers are encouraged to develop disaster plans to continue patient care should your site be evacuated, or a natural disaster occurs in the community.
SWSPHN keeps two registers to be enacted in the event of a declared natural disaster.
The disaster volunteer register lists health professionals willing to help other practices or nearby communities affected by a natural disaster such as bushfire and floods. The ‘We are open’ register lists practices willing to accept patients into their practice or even offer space for evacuated GPs to continue practising offsite.
South Western Sydney practices have access to disaster preparedness tools, information and support outlined below.
