South Western Sydney PHN (SWSPHN) is working with local healthcare providers to improve primary healthcare in our region.
Allied health professionals play a significant role in supporting primary healthcare. In 2014, the then South Western Sydney Medicare Local completed a local needs assessment, which identified 1,365 unique private allied health providers in our region.
The highest concentration of allied health providers are found in the Campbelltown and Bankstown regions, while the Wollondilly area has significantly fewer allied health providers compared to the other local government areas.
South Western Sydney PHN is currently working with local health service providers in addressing the six national health priorities:
- Aboriginal health
- Mental health
- Aged hare
- e-Health
- Population health
- Workforce support
These national health priorities are being actioned with consideration for the local priorities identified from the recent needs assessment.
