At South Western Sydney PHN, we are dedicated to supporting GPs and other primary care health professionals in delivering the highest standards of care to our community. Our tailored Continuing Professional Development (CPD) events are designed to enhance the knowledge, skills, and competencies of healthcare providers, ensuring their practice stays up-to-date with the latest advancements in primary care.
Why attend SWSPHN CPD events?
Locally relevant, expert-driven content
- SWSPHN collaborates closely with GPs across South Western Sydney, as well as key partners like South Western Sydney Local Health District and Western Sydney University, to develop educational activities that address the unique needs of our local communities.
- As a recognised CPD education provider under the RACGP and ACRRM programs, SWSPHN offers sessions that not only address current clinical priorities but also reflect feedback from practising GPs and insights from our partner institutions.
- Courses are based on evaluation, feedback and robust discussion among peers and stakeholders to enhance the development of a culture of continuous quality improvement.
Seamless CPD hours management
- SWSPHN handles the administrative details, lodging your CPD hours with RACGP or ACRRM on your behalf, so you can focus on learning without the hassle of tracking hours yourself.
- Our CPD events help you meet RACGP’s requirement of 50 CPD hours per year. Each session contributes towards this goal, with structured, targeted learning opportunities designed for practical impact.
Flexible learning options and accessibility
- We know your time is valuable. That’s why we hold events in your local government area (LGA) to minimise travel, and schedule sessions after-hours to ensure they fit seamlessly into your busy day.
- Many events are available in both face-to-face and hybrid formats, giving you the option to attend in person or participate via webinar, making it easy to join regardless of your location.
Collaborative and practical
Sessions last no more than 1.5 to 2 hours, keeping learning efficient and focused. For face-to-face attendees, we provide dinner, allowing for a comfortable, collegial atmosphere where you can connect with peers, exchange ideas, and strengthen referral networks within the community.
Only for South Western Sydney practitioners
These events are exclusively available to primary care health professionals working in South Western Sydney, ensuring that discussions and content are directly relevant to your practice and community. Sessions are provided at no cost, with the exception of CPR training.
Junior Medical Officers and medical students welcome
Junior Medical Officers working in a hospital within South Western Sydney and medical students are welcome to attend SWSPHN’s CPD events. You can learn more about medical and non-medical topics related to general practice, and network and collaborate with local GPs.
JMOs and medical students may register and attend any online event advertised. Due to limited places for face-to-face events, priority is given to GPs based in South Western Sydney. JMOs and medical students are added to a waitlist list and offer a spot when one may become available. You will be notified one week before the event and have 24 hours to confirm your attendance. Interest is handled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Meeting RACGP and ACRRM requirements
Continuing professional development is essential for GPs to maintain high standards of care. SWSPHN provides CPD activities aligned with RACGP and ACRRM standards, helping practitioners meet annual CPD requirements:
RACGP requirements: The RACGP requires GPs to complete a minimum of 50 CPD hours each year. Our events are designed to contribute meaningfully to these hours, and a handy pie chart breakdown of how these hours can be achieved is available on our website.
ACRRM Requirements: For practitioners following ACRRM standards, our CPD sessions also align with their requirements, with a similar pie chart showing how to achieve the needed CPD hours.
