iRAD and My Health Record are both useful and powerful tools used by practices to support the care of their patients through access to shared patient clinical information. Should you use one or both? Do they complement each other, or should you choose to use only one solution? iRAD and My Health Record both offer healthcare providers access to a patient’s clinical records from other healthcare services, however they are actually very different tools. A quick overview of iRAD
It’s all in the name – iRAD stands for integrated real-time active data. By using a simple widget, iRAD displays patient information from other practices where the patient has consented. iRAD is automatic and instant. It is truly interoperable, meaning data is sourced directly, and securely, from practice clinical software then translated into categorised and easy to understand data.
iRAD is free to practices within South Western Sydney. As of October 2023, iRAD has more than 20,000 consented patients consented and 82 South Western Sydney practices.

A quick overview of My Health Record
My Health Record is the national digital health record platform for Australia, and is managed by the Australian Digital Health Agency. My Health Record has also developed the MyHealth App, which empowers patients to take control of their medical records.
