THIS MEETING IS FOR GPS INVOLVED IN ANTENATAL SHARED CARE AND WILL COUNT TOWARDS THE ANSC PROGRAM CPD REQUIREMENTS.
Aim of meeting:
Maternity Tour: Before the program begins, we invite you to join us for a maternity tour of Liverpool Hospital’s Antenatal Clinic (ANC) and Birthing Unit (BU), to get an overview of our services and facilities.
We invite GPs involved in Antenatal Shared Care (ANSC) to join us for a dedicated GP Skills Day designed to enhance confidence, knowledge, and collaboration in maternity care.
This program aims to support GPs in the management of common pregnancy and postnatal conditions, with a focus on early identification, appropriate assessment, and timely referral pathways.
Key areas of focus include:
Musculoskeletal and pelvic floor health in pregnancy and the postnatal period, including practical approaches to assessment, management, and referral
Genetic screening in pregnancy, with guidance on counselling, interpreting results, and understanding referral pathways to genetics services
Recognition and escalation of clinical concerns, including updates on current policies, guidelines, and referral processes within ANSC
Infant feeding and lactation, supporting GPs to confidently provide antenatal breastfeeding education, identify common postnatal challenges, and guide women through their breastfeeding journey
This day provides an opportunity to hear directly from multidisciplinary experts, build practical skills, and strengthen partnerships between primary care and hospital services to optimise outcomes for women and families.
Learning outcomes:
- Identify and describe the principles of infant feeding including escalation processes when deviations from normal are identified.
- Identify common pelvic floor dysfunction and musculoskeletal conditions in pregnant and postnatal women, and describe appropriate assessment, management, and referral pathways.
- Identify and describe the significance, counselling and referral processes for genetic screening.
