Clearing the air: smoking, vaping and how to help patients quit

Aim of meeting:
To equip GPs with the knowledge and practical skills to assess tobacco smoking and vaping, interpret the current evidence and provide evidence based smoking and vaping cessation support in primary care and identify the scenarios where prescribing therapeutic vapes might be appropriate.

Learning outcomes:

  • Assess health impacts, patterns of use, and current evidence relating to smoking and vaping.
  • Identify the pathway for prescribing therapeutic vapes.
  • Implement evidence based smoking and vaping cessation strategies, including appropriate behavioural interventions and pharmacotherapy in general practice.
