Using the National PHN Allied Health in Primary Care Engagement Framework and Toolkit, SWSPHN has developed a localised Allied Health Engagement Framework and Strategy, aligning with the six key priority areas for collaboration:
- Aboriginal health
- mental health
- aged care
- e-health
- population health
- workforce support
Primary care engagement framework
The National PHN Allied Health in Primary Care Engagement Framework (the Framework) was developed with allied health peak bodies, practitioners, and government agencies to strengthen engagement between PHNs and the allied health sector.
The framework guides PHNs in strengthening engagement with the allied health sector. In 2024, SWSPHN secured funding from the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing’s Commissioning of Multidisciplinary Teams grant. This funding supports:
- developing multidisciplinary team services
- funding teams to address priority health needs
- enhancing general practice support for allied health, nursing, and midwifery
This National Allied Health Practice Engagement Toolkit (the Toolkit) is a key initiative under the practice engagement priority.
