South Western Sydney PHN (SWSPHN) assists to increase the proportion of residential aged care (RAC) registered nurses (RN) able to vaccinate residents independently of a medical officer. Assistance is provided though scholarships that reimburse the cost of the Australian College of Nursing Immunisation for Health Professionals course upon completion.
Who can apply for a scholarship?
SWSPHN scholarships are open to RAC RNs working in residential aged care facilities who currently do not have an independent nurse immuniser on staff, or access to a corporate immunisation program through their parent company. Applications will be received from the nurse applicant who will need agreement from their facility to participate.
When will applications be open?
Applications may be lodged throughout the year. There are a limited number of scholarships available, once this number has been allocated applications will be closed.
What does the scholarship pay for?
The scholarship reimburses the course cost only. Reimbursement is made after completion of the course.
Course, 307 Immunisation for Health Practitioners, costs can be located on the Australian College of Nursing website.
