Neurodevelopmental conditions across the lifespan: diagnosis, function, and intervention

Aim of meeting:
This presentation will explore contemporary approaches to assessment from early childhood through to older adulthood, with a particular focus on challenging diagnostic presentations, differential diagnosis, evolving symptom expression across the lifespan, and the role of cognitive and functional assessment. Practical discussion will include NDIS eligibility and functional evidence, and the importance of both early and late intervention.

Learning outcomes:

  • Identify changes in symptom presentation across the lifespan to support accurate differential diagnosis.
  • Describe the role of cognitive and functional assessments in supporting diagnosis, treatment planning and NDIS functional evidence requirements.
  • Apply evidence-based principles to recognise opportunities for early and late intervention to optimise patient outcomes across the lifespan.
