Family Planning Australia is offering two courses for health professionals looking to expand their skills in reproductive and sexual health.
Reproductive and Sexual Health for Nurses and Midwives
The Reproductive and Sexual Health for Nurses and Midwives – Full Certificate (RSH-CAP) course offers the theory component over a five-month period and includes a blend of online learning, live interactive webinars, reflective learning and assessment tasks.
The clinical placement component requires participants to meet core competencies across a 32-hour placement in one of four locations.
It begins on Monday, 10 February and subjects covered will include history taking, contraception, cervical screening and pregnancy options.
FPAA National Certificate in Reproductive & Sexual Health for Doctors
The National Certificate in Reproductive and Sexual Health for Doctors (NSW) is for GPs, including GP registrars wanting to upskill in reproductive and sexual health using the latest clinical research and flexible learning.
Offered over a five-month period, it begins on Tuesday, 11 February and offers self-paced online learning, interactive live case discussions, reflective learning and assessment.
The content includes contraceptive options, current guidelines for STI screening including diagnosis and management, unintended pregnancy options, working with diverse groups including adolescents and people living with disability, updates on the National Cervical Screening Program, menopause and men’s health.
Upon completion, you will be eligible to enrol in the clinical attachment course which includes structured, supervised placement at Family Planning Australia clinics.
