Aim:
To provide GPs and associated staff with an opportunity to refresh and update their skills in the application of CPR within the practice setting, using ARC Guidelines.
Learning outcomes:
- Identify and apply the steps that need to be taken in the event of a cardiac arrest patient in the general practice setting including team management.
- Recall the appropriate methods and processes of gaining emergency assistance in the general practice setting, in the event of a cardiac arrest.
- Manage a cardiac arrest including the demonstration of clinical resuscitation procedures, effective ventilations and compressions, use of a defibrillator and emergency drugs using appropriate resuscitation manikins.
- Implement strategies in the practice to reduce the emotional impact of an emergency on individuals and the team.
