Aim of meeting:
This session provides a practical overview of current MyMedicare incentive guidelines and funding requirements relevant to general practice, with a focus on understanding eligibility, compliance, and correct billing processes. Participants will explore common areas of confusion surrounding incentives such as the General Practice in Aged Care Incentive (GPACI) and the Bulk Billing Practice Incentive Program (BBPIP), including GP obligations, patient eligibility, documentation requirements, and compliant billing practices. The education will also clarify how practices can appropriately manage out-of-pocket fees and privately billed non-eligible services while remaining compliant with BBPIP guidelines and maintaining sustainable business operations.
Learning outcomes:
- Identify the eligibility requirements and obligations GPs must meet to claim MyMedicare-linked incentives, including GPACI and BBPIP.
- Differentiate between eligible and non-eligible services under BBPIP, including when private billing and out-of-pocket costs can be applied compliantly.
- Apply practical billing and workflow strategies that support compliant claiming, reduce confusion for staff, and maintain financial sustainability within general practice.
