Aim of meeting:
Using key insights from the women’s health sector, primary care and community services, this webinar will emphasise the important role GPs play in responding to women who have experienced strangulation in the context of domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV). This training will assist you in further developing your understanding of DFSV, including how to identify, screen and address short- and long-term needs of women with these experiences.
Learning outcomes:
- Recognise signs, symptoms and clinical presentations that should prompt screening for non-fatal strangulation and DFSV.
- Identify barriers to patient disclosure of strangulation and/or DFSV in primary care and apply practical strategies to create a safe and supportive environment that facilitates disclosure.
- Identify local referral pathways that support a multidisciplinary response for patients who have experienced strangulation and/or DFSV.
