
The Community Yarning, Community Healing program provides tailored, locally relevant, culturally responsive low intensity mental health support to meet the needs of First Nations communities.
Gandangara Health Services delivers culturally safe, community-based support which places culture, connection and community at the centre of the program.
What will the program include?
The Community Yarning, Community Healing program includes yarning circles combining mental health education, practical coping strategies and peer discussion.
Identified First Peoples staff lead the yarning circles in accessible community settings, creating opportunities for participants to learn, share experiences and strengthen their mental health and wellbeing in a culturally safe environment.
During the second stage of the program, participants also receive fortnightly phone support to continue the support provided through the yarning circles.

The Community Yarning, Community Healing program supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples aged 18 and older in Camden, Campbelltown, Fairfield and Liverpool.

Individuals can access the service through self-referral, GP referral or referral from another service.
