Aim of meeting:
This presentation will explore contemporary approaches to assessment from early childhood through to older adulthood, with a particular focus on challenging diagnostic presentations, differential diagnosis, evolving symptom expression across the lifespan, and the role of cognitive and functional assessment. Practical discussion will include NDIS eligibility and functional evidence, and the importance of both early and late intervention.
Learning outcomes:
- Identify changes in symptom presentation across the lifespan to support accurate differential diagnosis.
- Describe the role of cognitive and functional assessments in supporting diagnosis, treatment planning and NDIS functional evidence requirements.
- Apply evidence-based principles to recognise opportunities for early and late intervention to optimise patient outcomes across the lifespan.
- Differentiate ADHD from other conditions by recognising key clinical features.
- Identify appropriate monitoring strategies to assess treatment response and ensure patient safety.
- Identify key diagnostic and prescribing considerations when managing special populations.
