Vaccination in the rural south-western regions and long COVID in primary care – where are we now?

Aim of meeting:
To enhance healthcare providers’ understanding of current trends in vaccination rates, vaccine-preventable diseases in semi-rural areas, and the clinical management of long COVID, with a focus on evidence-based practices, prevention strategies, and effective referral pathways in primary care.

Learning outcomes:

  • Describe current trends in local vaccination rates and explain recent health system changes that support vaccination delivery.
  • Identify vaccine-preventable diseases in semi-rural areas and explain the reasons for their prioritisation.
  • Define long COVID, including key clinical features, epidemiology, risk factors and prevention strategies.
  • Apply evidence-based management of long COVID in primary care, including appropriate multidisciplinary referral.
