The No Wrong Door initiative is a commitment to mental health service collaboration in South Western Sydney.
No Wrong Door aims to enhance the experience of people seeking mental health support. Through a No Wrong Door mindset, individuals are supported to access the right services, no matter where they first seek help.
How it began
The No Wrong Door initiative was created in response to community feedback about the challenges of navigating the mental health system. The initiative was developed as a collaboration between long-time partners, South Western Sydney PHN and One Door Mental Health/South Western Sydney Partners in Recovery.
Under the initial model for No Wrong Door, a total of 66 organisations signed a No Wrong Door charter, committing to provide essential services to the South Western Sydney community. These organisations were given exclusive access to training and attended an annual forum to collaborate and discuss issues related to mental health support access in our region. They were encouraged to conduct a continual assessment of their accessibility via the No Wrong Door Framework.
From 2025, No Wrong Door is open to all support providers who service South Western Sydney. Read on to discover how No Wrong Door continues to provide a model for best practice mental health support.
No Wrong Door principles
Through No Wrong Door, organisations commit to the four No Wrong Door Principles, which include:
- Acknowledging people with mental illness are entitled to human rights which inform all service delivery.
- Acknowledging the barriers to social and service inclusion for people with severe and persistent mental illness with complex needs, and that they will require extra resources and skills to ensure they do not fall through the gaps.
- Use recovery-oriented practice.
- Contributing to an integrated and coordinated service system for people’s mental health and recovery.

Quarterly newsletter
