19 September 2023

From 28 November 2023, eligible people will have the choice to access voluntary assisted dying in NSW.

From November, patients may start to ask about accessing voluntary assisted dying.

GPs will need to understand their obligations and responsibilities under the voluntary assisted dying legislation to enable them to support their patients to access voluntary assisted dying when it becomes available.

With the RACGP, NSW Health is hosting webinars on voluntary assisted dying for GPs and other primary healthcare providers.

The next webinar will be held on Monday, 16 October, from 7.30pm to 8.30pm.

The webinar will:

  • Describe the process of becoming a voluntary assisted dying practitioner
  • Outline how voluntary assisted dying services such as the Care Navigator Service can be accessed
  • Outline the rights and responsibilities of practitioners

This webinar is the second in the series. Watch the Introduction to voluntary assisted dying recording here.
