Western Sydney Diabetes (WSD) is again partnering with 50 health professionals from across the state to help tackle the diabetes epidemic in NSW.
The virtual component of the series runs 7pm to 8.30pm on Tuesdays until 10 November and there will be an interactive face-to-face day on Saturday, 7 November from 9am to 4pm.
This year’s theme is Beyond Glucose. It will cover topics such as:
- diabetes medications and obesity management
- continuous glucose monitoring and digital diabetes care
- bringing specialist expertise into general practice
- cardiovascular and kidney protection
- South Asian diabetes care
- atypical diabetes
- building a high-performing diabetes program in general practice
Last year more than 1,400 people registered for the free series which is facilitated by WSD; ACI – Agency for Clinical Innovation; Diabetes, Obesity Metabolism Translational Research Unit (DOMTRU); and the Western Sydney LHD/PHN, Hunter New England LHD/PHN, Nepean Blue Mountains LHD/PHN, and South Western Sydney LHD/PHN.
The event is for GPs, pharmacists, diabetes educators, nurses, endocrinologists, dietitians, exercise physiologists, psychologists and podiatrists and aims to equip them with the skills needed for better management of type 2 diabetes.
The virtual series is a high quality and comprehensive program over seven weeks featuring expert guest speakers, interactive case studies and panel discussions for each evening, delivered by more than 50 highly qualified experts.
The evenings will include short and interactive case discussions or question and answer sessions.
On Saturday, 7 November at the Parkroyal Parramatta delegates can enjoy interactive sessions and case studies around an array of management issues related to diabetes, delivered by endocrinologists, GPs and diabetes health professionals. There will also be information booths from the pharmaceutical sponsors and partners.
When participants enrol for the series they gain access to the recorded presentations and slides which will be hosted long term on the myINTERACT app. A certificate of attendance will allow you to earn CPD hours.
