As previously communicated COVID-19 vaccination will transition from the current National COVID-19 Vaccination Program (NCVP) arrangements to an ongoing program under the National Immunisation Program (NIP) from 1 October.
From this date COVID-19 vaccines will be managed through the same arrangements which apply to other NIP vaccines. COVID-19 vaccine ordering, distribution, reporting, cold chain breach management and program support will be administered by NSW Health.
Key arrangements
As the NCVP concludes on 30 September, the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing Vaccine Operations Centre (VOC) has provided an update on several key transition arrangements:
- NCVP ordering: COVID-19 vaccine ordering through CVAS closed on 28 August 2026 and no further orders can be placed.
- Stock on Hand (SOH) reporting: compete your final SOH reporting requirements on or before Friday, 25 September.
- CVAS and Vaccine Operations Centre (VOC) support: CVAS and the associated VOC support team will continue to operate until 30 September to assist providers with final reporting requirements, cold chain breach (CCB) assessments and transition related enquiries. These arrangements will cease as part of the closure of the NCVP.
- CCB reporting transition: Please continue to contact the VOC for all CCB matters until 30 September. From 1 October, all CCB reporting and management activities will transition to NSW Health in line with standard NIP processes.
- Ordering and vaccine management from 1 October: Providers will order and manage COVID-19 vaccines through their jurisdictional vaccine ordering system and existing NIP processes. Further information regarding local arrangements will be provided by NSW Health.
