The Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain clinic in Mittagong, funded by South Western Sydney PHN provides accessible and specialised care for women in south western Sydney who are experiencing symptoms of Endometriosis and pelvic pain.
Endometriosis affects one in seven Australian women, leading to chronic pelvic pain, fertility challenges, and a variety of complex health issues. Despite how common endometriosis is, women often face an average wait of seven years for a diagnosis. Pelvic pain affects approximately one in five women, and many women report this pain impacting their daily life and mental health.
Peri menopause and menopause symptoms can affect every woman differently as they enter the next stage and symptoms can have a significant impact on a woman’s daily life.

As a service of The Women’s Health Centre, the clinic streamlines the diagnosis process. This allows patients to receive timely assessments and move forward with tailored care. - Quick access to assessments and referrals
Women experiencing endometriosis, pelvic pain or peri menopause/menopause symptoms can quickly access the clinic’s full range of assessments, consultations, and referrals. Specialists and other relevant services are available to ensure each patient receives the best care and support. - Tailored treatment plans based on each woman’s needs
The clinic recognises each woman’s unique experience with endometriosis and pelvic pain. The clinic creates personalised treatment plans tailored to individual symptoms, health goals, and lifestyle needs. - Ongoing care
Patients are discharged back to their regular GP for ongoing management.
To be eligible, you must meet one of the following conditions or medical issues:
- A prior diagnosis of endometriosis with pain that remains poorly managed, or possible symptoms of endometriosis that have not yet been explored.
- Persistent pelvic pain lasting over five days each month, which has not been adequately investigated or is not well managed by your healthcare team, including a GP, physiotherapist, and other allied health professionals.

How to make an appointment

No GP referral is required
Patients must have at least one face-to-face consultation in the last 12 months before being eligible for telehealth.
Patients are discharged back to their regular GP for ongoing management.

Background
The Women’s Health Centre Southern Highlands in Mittagong is one of 33 endometriosis and pelvic pain clinics set up across Australia as part of the National Endometriosis Action Plan. These clinics are designed to improve awareness, education, diagnosis, treatment, and research for endometriosis, providing earlier diagnosis, better treatment options, and clear care pathways. This investment benefits not only women, girls, and others with endometriosis and chronic pelvic pain but also their families, partners, and carers.
With funding in 2023 for four years, the clinic can support women by hiring specialised staff, including nurse practitioners and allied health professionals, as well as invest in resources, training and development to adequately support patients and other health professionals in providing care for these conditions.
The clinic will also raise awareness of endometriosis and pelvic pain, build professional knowledge and skills in this area, and improve access to information and care pathways.
