ANSC Skills Day

ANSC providers came together on 15 September for an information update and skills development day at Ngara Health Education Centre, Liverpool Hospital Campus.

The day gave GPs an opportunity to strengthen their knowledge and practical skills in pregnancy and postnatal care, hear from multidisciplinary specialists and strengthen connections with hospital maternity services.

Sessions covered:

  • pelvic floor and musculoskeletal health during pregnancy and after birth
  • genetic screening, counselling and referral pathways
  • recognition and escalation of clinical concerns
  • infant feeding and lactation
  • practical skills including abdominal palpation, symphysis-fundal height measurement and fetal heart auscultation

The skills day is RACGP approved for five Educational Activities hours and contributes towards the eligible education requirements for ANSC registration.

Feedback from the event was positive, with 100 per cent of respondents saying they would recommend the CPD activity to a colleague.

ANSC skills days are offered twice a year, with 2027 dates to be announced.
