What is an Urgent Care Service?
Urgent Care Services provide one-off care for urgent healthcare needs which are not life-threatening and safe to provide in a healthcare setting outside of an emergency department.
The Urgent Care Services in NSW support emergency departments to focus on the most critically ill or injured patients. These services also support you to access local, appropriate urgent care and avoid waiting at the emergency department.

Medicare Urgent Care Centres
The NSW Government and the Australian Government both fund the delivery of separate services within NSW which provide urgent care.
Access to the Medicare Urgent Care Centres differs from the NSW-funded Urgent Care Services in that you don’t need to make an appointment. You can walk into a Medicare Urgent Care Centre and wait to be seen.
