The training promotes best practice that can be adapted to support the needs of staff in your organisation who are required to cannulate patients. \nLearning outcomes:\n• Assess the need for cannulation.\n• Discuss the considerations that influence the correct selection of intravenous cannula size and insertion site.\n• Choose the appropriate size cannula.\n• Demonstrate the technique of peripheral intravenous cannula insertion\, including securing the cannula insitu.\n• Manage the cannula until the time it is no longer required and removal of the cannula is to be performed.\n• Safely remove the IV cannula.\n• Troubleshoot problems.\n• Discuss and manage possible complications.
