Managing Type 2 diabetes: (Topic 1: Fasting and Ramadan) & (Topic 2: Pathway to Remission)

This webinar aims to empower GPs with strategies for promoting holistic wellbeing in patients with type 2 diabetes. Whether it’s supporting patients undertaking short-term lifestyle changes; fasting during Ramadan, or facilitating long-term management, GPs must engage with patients, consider their needs and circumstances, and prioritise person-cantered wellbeing. Additionally, recent evidence highlights the potential for remission of type 2 diabetes in certain patients. This workshop would guide clinicians on identifying these patients and the approach needed to assist patients to achieve this outcome.

Learning Outcome

At the end of the workshop, participants would be able to:

  1. Determine the risk category of fasting for patients with diabetes
  2. Identify appropriate adjustment to medication regimens, lifestyle practices and monitoring strategies for patients fasting during Ramadan.
  3. Describe evidence-based approach to assist patients in achieving type 2 diabetes remission
