Guiding nurses to support child and youth mental and AOD conditions (practice nurse CPD)

Aim:
Practice nurses will be able to identify the current child and youth mental health and alcohol and other drugs (AOD) conditions, referral pathways and treatment options to improve mental health outcomes and overall wellbeing for children, young people and their families within SWS.

Key messages:

  • Identify local statistics and current mental health and AOD conditions of children and young people.
  • Identify current referral pathways and services available for children and young people requiring low, moderate and high mental health and AOD support including support for young people living with an eating disorder.
  • Identify other training opportunities for practice nurses who see children and young people with mental health and AOD conditions.
