Culturally responsive health care for GPs

The aim of this workshop is to develop a communication approach that facilitates a culturally safe environment to be able to effectively assess and provide support to patients from diverse cultural communities.  Developing the skills, knowledge and approach that integrates diverse understandings of histories and cultural health beliefs and values is integral to delivering culturally responsive care.

Learning outcomes:

  • Identify a framework for culturally responsive care.
  • Outline the barriers faced by the culturally and linguistically diverse community in accessing health care.
  • Describe strategies for effective communication with, and improved healthcare access for, culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
