BREASTSCREEN AUSTRALIA’S STATEMENT ON 3D MAMMOGRAMMY 5th October 2017
The use of Tomosynthesis has been topical at the moment. As you may be aware, there has been some discussion in the media recently about the issue of breast density and how it may relate to mammographic screening (ie, on a mammogram dense breast tissue appears white and so too does breast cancer, therefore cancer can be ‘masked’ by dense breast tissue, making it harder to see). .

NEW QUALITY IMPROVEMENT INCENTIVE 4th October 2017
The new Quality Improvement (QI) Incentive will start from 1 May 2018. The new PIP QI Incentive will help general practices continuously improve the quality, safety, performance and accountability of the care they provide to their patients. The changes are a result of consultation conducted in 2016. One of the main outcomes of the consultation was the broad support for the QI Incentive. .
OPTIMISE PROJECT 4th October 2017
The OPTIMISE project seeks to improve accessibility, quality and coordination of primary health care delivery to the refugee community. The research project is funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) and led by Monash University. .

Data from NSW Health show that heterosexual people with HIV are more likely than homosexual men to be diagnosed with advanced HIV infection. A late diagnosis increases the risk of morbidity and mortality, and can contribute to ongoing HIV transmission before the person with HIV infection is aware of their HIV status.
And because many patients don’t realise they’re at risk of HIV, they don’t communicate potential risk behaviours that could prompt testing soon after exposure.
